AT A GLANCE

 

v  Behavioral Management Plan:  On-TRAC: Transition, Respect, Academics, Control

 

v  Community Service:  Hillside Food Bank, Community Reading Day of Service Learning Trip

 

v  Nia (Purpose):   Life Skills Class:  Students are instructed in life skills, college and career readiness, appropriate manners and etiquette and how to make appropriate decisions.

 

v  Small learning Community:   Fresh Start Academy Middle School is designed to have smaller class sizes in order for students to have more individualized instruction.

 

v  Individual Progress Plan IPP:   An Individualized Program Plan (IPP) consisting of academic and behavioral goals and objectives is developed and implemented by the team and monitored by individual case managers (i.e. Guidance Counselor/Social Worker). Student progress is assessed utilizing performance indicators such as number of suspensions, attendance, number of student/teacher and/or student/student conflicts.

 

v  Out of Classroom Learning Experiences:  Fresh Start Academy offers many out-of-school learning experiences to broaden and enhance students' scope of the world. Trips and extracurricular activities are rewards for positive behavior and academic achievements.
